Maruti Suzuki booking backlog tops 2 lakh units - maruti suzuki booking
Dealers hold stock for just 17 days of sales amid Maruti Suzuki’s 200,000+ outstanding vehicle orders by October 2026.

Maruti Suzuki’s outstanding vehicle orders have now exceeded 200,000 units by October 1, 2026, just before the upcoming holiday sales surge. The company’s backlog highlights strong customer interest, especially for its newly updated Brezza SUV, which alone has attracted over 95,000 reservations—coming close to the 100,000-unit threshold. Dealers currently hold enough stock to cover just 17 days of sales, leaving little buffer against the unfulfilled orders. The refreshed Baleno hatchback also contributed significantly to demand, selling 25,000 units in its first month after its facelift, reinforcing Maruti’s ability to drive volume across segments.

The Brezza achieved over 15,000 sales in September, while Maruti Suzuki has increased production at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. Output for SUVs has grown from 50,000 to 56,000 units each month, helping reduce the booking surplus before the holiday rush. Among buyers, the CNG variant holds a 40% share, the turbo petrol model commands 38%, and the 1.5-liter petrol version accounts for the remaining 22%. The CNG model currently holds the largest individual share by two percentage points.

The first half of fiscal year 2027 delivered an 86% rise for entry-level hatchbacks, a 40% increase for mid-size hatchbacks, and a 56% gain for SUVs. These figures reflect strong consumer preference for Maruti’s lineup, particularly as the company expands its CNG and SUV offerings. The September sales total of 236,013 units included not only passenger cars but also 6,542 light commercial vehicles supplied to other OEMs, demonstrating broad market reach.

In September, the company sold 236,013 vehicles domestically, including 185,252 passenger cars and 6,542 light commercial vehicles. Export numbers rose 5% year-over-year to 44,219 units, with the April–September total up 12.2% at 232,000 units. Maruti Suzuki led India’s export market, capturing 52% of total shipments between April and August.
