Maruti Brezza scores top safety rating for 2026
The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has earned a five-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP ahead of its official launch, making it one of the highest-rated compact SUVs tested under India’s domestic crash safety program.
Crash test scores reveal strong protection for adults and children
The updated Brezza achieved 30.41 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 for child occupant safety. Testing focused on the ZXI+ variant, equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, though the rating covers the entire model range.
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the vehicle secured 14.41 out of 16 points. The driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet received “good” protection ratings, while the chest and lower legs were marked “adequate.” The front passenger fared better, with all major body regions except the lower legs rated “good.”
Side impact performance was flawless, with a perfect 16 out of 16 points in the movable deformable barrier test. Protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis earned “good” ratings. The SUV also passed the side pole impact test without issue.
Child safety features deliver near-perfect results
The Brezza earned the maximum 24 out of 24 points in dynamic child occupant safety tests and 12 out of 12 for child restraint system installation. Rear-facing seats for the 18-month-old and three-year-old crash test dummies received full scores in both frontal and side impact evaluations.
Points were deducted in the vehicle assessment section, where it scored 7 out of 13. The tested variant included six airbags, electronic stability control, seat belt reminders for all seating positions, front seatbelt pretensioners, and ISOFIX anchorages for the rear outboard seats.

Bharat NCAP stated the five-star rating applies to all versions of the 2026 Brezza. This places the model among the safest compact SUVs in India, where buyers increasingly prioritize crash test results.
Safety upgrades reflect broader industry shift
Maruti Suzuki appears to have focused on structural improvements and passive safety in the latest update. The previous generation had not undergone Bharat NCAP testing, making this the first official assessment for the nameplate.
Competitors may now face pressure to match these standards. Most compact SUVs in India have lagged behind, though recent models from Tata and Mahindra have shown progress.
The rating was announced before the official launch, likely to strengthen consumer trust early. If the Brezza maintains its affordability while offering top-tier safety, it could redefine expectations for the segment.
Designing an effective flyer for the new model might highlight these safety achievements to attract buyers.
