Honda Malaysia slashes car prices in August promo

Honda Malaysia is offering cash rebates of up to RM15,000 on select models as part of its August 2026 promotion. The discounts apply to five locally assembled vehicles, including the WR-V, HR-V, CR-V, Civic, and City Hatchback.

Which models qualify for the discounts?

The promotion covers 2026 model-year vehicles, with the exception of the City, which is excluded. The City Hatchback, however, is included, with all five variants eligible for an RM8,000 rebate.

The Civic sees varying discounts depending on the trim. The e:HEV RS variant receives RM8,000 off, while the E and V trims get RM10,000. The highest discount for the Civic—RM12,000—applies to the RS trim.

The WR-V is available with a single discount: RM9,000 off the RS variant. The HR-V offers more flexibility. The S, E, and V trims with a 360-degree camera receive RM8,000 off, while the V trim without the camera qualifies for RM12,000. The e:HEV RS comes with two options: RM11,000 off for the 360-camera version and RM15,000 for the non-camera model.

The CR-V discounts apply to both hybrid and petrol variants. Buyers of the e:HEV E and e:HEV RS trims receive RM9,000 off, while the petrol-only V trim gets RM12,000.

What’s missing from the promotion?

The e:N1 EV, which previously had a RM34,000 discount, is no longer part of the August deals. The recently launched Prelude, priced at RM278,000, is also excluded. The promotion does not cover MY2025 models or include the previously offered One Nation Rewards cash rebate.

The discounts are valid for vehicles registered between now and August 31, 2026. No additional conditions were disclosed in the announcement.

This isn’t the first time Honda Malaysia has adjusted its promotional lineup. The e:N1 EV’s removal suggests strong demand may have depleted available stock. The absence of the Prelude aligns with its recent market introduction, where early adopters typically face fewer incentives.

For buyers prioritizing value, the HR-V e:HEV RS without the 360-degree camera presents the deepest discount at RM15,000. Those considering the CR-V or Civic might find the petrol variants more appealing due to their higher rebates compared to the hybrid options.

The timing of the promotion could also reflect broader market trends. August often sees a push to clear inventory before new model updates or year-end sales periods. Whether this will translate into sustained demand remains unclear, but for now, the discounts offer a rare opportunity for cost-conscious buyers.

The promotion’s structure—focusing on higher-volume models—suggests Honda Malaysia is targeting mainstream buyers rather than niche segments. That strategy may help maintain sales momentum in a competitive market where price sensitivity remains a key factor.
