Digital artist Luca Serafini posted a 3‑D rendering that reimagines the current Ford Mustang with sharper lines and a more upscale silhouette.

Artist Reimagines the Iconic Pony Car

The seventh‑generation model, known internally as S650, marks more than 60 years of continuous production in the United States. Its design has gradually become leaner, but the new illustration pushes the evolution a step further.

Serafini, who has previously rendered concepts for the Ferrari Testarossa and BMW Z4, applied his signature style to the American muscle icon. His portfolio shows a pattern of taking existing shapes and giving them a high‑performance, supercar‑like finish.

The rendering retains the long hood, up‑turned headlights, and a set‑back cabin that fans instantly recognize. A subtle rear spoiler and twin exhaust tips complete the look while preserving the vehicle’s classic proportions.

‘While the rear keeps those familiar, beloved proportions, it brings in a cleaner, modern edge: slimmer vertical taillights, a subtle integrated aero lip, and twin round exhaust pipes pushing out from the lower fascia.’

At the front, the pony logo sits beneath a broader “MUSTANG” wordmark that stretches across a sharper grille. The headlights are narrowed, giving the front a “much meaner, more grounded stance,” as the artist explained.

‘This concept takes the iconic Ford Mustang and gives it a more athletic, sculptural body language, moving away from the overly sharp, plastic‑heavy surfacing seen on so many modern Ford sports cars.’

Serafini also borrowed a touch of a rival’s design language, noting that the greenhouse echoes a Camaro silhouette. The blend aims to merge classic American cues with a refined, high‑impact aesthetic.

Compared with the incremental changes seen in the past two decades, this vision feels like a leap rather than a tweak. While earlier updates softened edges, the current proposal sharpens them, echoing how the brand once shifted from a simple roadster to a full‑size performance sedan. The contrast highlights how much visual language can shift without breaking the underlying formula.

The S650 has been in production since 2023, offering multiple powertrain options ranging from a turbocharged four‑cylinder to a 5.0‑liter V8. Production numbers remain strong, with annual sales hovering around 100,000 units in the domestic market.

It is clear that the rendering does not reflect any confirmed Ford development plans. The company has not announced a mid‑engine variant or a move toward a supercar platform for the model.

Nevertheless, the illustration provides a visual argument for a more upscale direction. If the automaker seeks to attract buyers who desire both heritage and a premium feel, the cleaner surfaces and slimmer lighting could serve as a useful reference point.

Fans have shared the images widely on social media, praising the balance between tradition and modernity. The design’s “athletic, sculptural body language” resonates with enthusiasts who appreciate a fresh take on a familiar silhouette.
