A highlight for me was being Technical Director for the Formula Student team here at Surrey. They fulfil the requirements for employment in private sectors such as service advisors, fleet control engineers, automotive insurance companies’ assessors and public departments such as the Road Transport Department. In addition, the University is the home of the Institute for Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP), which builds on Sunderland’s role as a centre of excellence in the manufacturing and assembly of cars. Taught subjects include A Review of Selected Automotive Technologies, Manufacturing Management, Design and options from Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials and Machine Dynamics. Typical careers span a wide range – professional mechanical engineering, general engineering and manufacturing. Dutch students who have applied for the course Automotive Engineering are entitled to a course selection check.
Throughout the programme you’ll complete your Professional Project – an independent piece of research on a topic within mechanical engineering that allows you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. Employ computational methods in modelling and simulation of engineering control systems.
CU-ICAR is a 400-acre campus that will support the state’s efforts to build a regional automotive economic cluster, providing advanced engineering education and close linkage of academic and private sector research and development efforts. Students on the first year of an engineering course can also take advantage of a weekly support session with our Maths Support Tutor. The double degree agreement exists with a master’s program in mechanical engineering (Mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica) or with one in electrical engineering (Mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica). For more information please contact Kristine Lalley at the Swanson School of Engineering.
This module covers the fundamental mathematical skills essential to support the application of core engineering principles in solving typical engineering problems. Sorry, no Mechanical and automotive engineering programs are currently available for international students intending to study on a student visa. Access: Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 15 Level 3 credits at Merit in Mathematics (before you apply, ask us which Maths units you need to do) and 15 Level 3 credits at Merit in another science or technology subject. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords. In addition, it encourages a holistic view of the engineering degree programme and how it fits the graduate for their future career.
If you are looking for a stimulating career in F1, MotoGP, Rallying, Touring cars or the automotive sector, UWTSD may be your first step. Over at Automotive Engineering they help ease a lot of the stresses of having car troubles by providing excellent customer service with honesty and reliability. Our Sheaf and Eric Mensforth buildings are getting an £11m refurbishment to support high-quality science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) teaching and research. The Automotive Engineering programme is a mechanical engineering programme that focuses on powertrain, vehicle dynamics and safety. Highlight skills gained at school/college, eg summer schools or mentoring activities.
