Prominent companies similar to silverware agency Christofle, glass designer René Lalique, and the jewellers Louis Cartier and Boucheron started designing products in additional fashionable styles. Beginning in 1900, malls recruited decorative artists to work in their design studios. The decoration recommended site of the 1912 Salon d’Automne was entrusted to the division store Printemps, and that year it created its personal workshop, Primavera. Other designers, together with Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann and Paul Follot, refused to make use of mass production, insisting that every piece be made individually.
