There is no doubt that your business has untapped potential, value that you’re yet to unlock. Students who graduate from this program will have strengths in modern automotive systems, engineering fundamentals, enhanced interdisciplinary skills, and the teamwork skills necessary to guide product and process development in this rapidly evolving field.
The programme will lead to professional roles within research and development, design, and testing of processes, systems and parts of automotive vehicles or other mechanical systems. You are better placed to tackle the problems faced by many companies whose design, manufacturing processes rely on co-ordinating individual specialists from various engineering disciplines.
Chartered Engineer or Associate Engineer status in Ireland can be achieved after obtaining a relevant degree or diploma and around four years of workplace experience. Throughout the course, you will get hands-on experience testing designs for automotive projects using our facilities, which include advanced simulators. An automotive engineering internship will provide students with experience in the field and offers them an opportunity to apply what they have learned in a classroom to professional situations. They are usually paid, with past students having earned an average salary of £14,000-£18,000 a year depending on location. Use appropriate methods to pursue research or other detailed investigation of technical issues related with the discipline of automotive engineering.
STEMLab allows us to offer new ways to learn and collaborate, with a ‘drop-in’ engineering workshop, teaching laboratories, workshops, computer-aided design and rapid prototyping facilities, a design studio and informal learning spaces. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council, and satisfies the academic requirements for incorporated engineer (IEng) status. If you are applying for an undergraduate degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND), you can apply through the UK’s Universities and Colleges Admissions Service ( UCAS ). If you gain incorporated engineer (IEng) status, you’ll tend to specialise in the day-to-day management of engineering operations. Sandy and Sons referred me to Automotive Engineering and I am so very glad they did.
While a master’s degree in automotive engineering is not required to work in the field, earning this higher-level degree will provide students with advanced knowledge and skills. Due to its overall positive impact on employability, degree classification and graduate starting salaries, the University strongly encourages you to pursue a work placement as part of your degree programme. Year four You will study modules in Vehicle Dynamics, Automotive Design & Analysis, Vehicle Aerodynamics, and Automotive Control Systems & Mechatronics. Teaching at Surrey is informed by the University’s extensive research interests and strong links with automotive and motorsport industries. The Universities links with the manufacturer of the MCR race car allow our engineering students to collaborate with the company and help develop the car by design, testing and simulation.
